Patient Care       

Because our the lifespan of our pets is typically less than ours, we stress the importance of preventative care through annual physical examinations.
 
Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems.

We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best and living a healthy life.

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services:  Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.  We emphasize complete physical exams at least annually, monitoring of blood chemistry (as your own personal physician insists on for you), blood pressure checks as indicated, glaucoma testing and thorough dental exams.  Our doctors meet to discuss complex cases and actively participate in continuing education.
      
Surgical Services:  We offer routine surgeries such as population control (spay and neuter) along with obstectric and more complicated surgeries as needed.  Rest assured that your pet's welfare is our primary focus.  We use a network of board certified surgeons to manage complicated surgical procedures to ensure the very best outcome for your family member.
   
Anesthesia:  We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
    
Internal medicine consults: We offer in-hospital referrals to an internal medicine specialist who performs ultrasounds, endoscopic procedures and other advanced diagnostics and helps us with the diagnosis of the most complicated cases.
   
Radiology Services:  Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders.  Referral for MRI is readily available at our hospital.
   
Electrocardiography Services:  We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists for more advanced diagnostics such as color flow doppler.
   
Dentistry:  Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.  Major oral surgery, including endodontics are available through our network of outside consultants whom we utilize frequently.
   
Laboratory:  Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for complete analysis of your pet's blood work while you wait.  We also offer in house cytology (so we can get accurate treatment recommendations for troubling infections), urinalysis, and heart worm/feline leukemia & aids/giardia and bile acids profiles.

Oncology (Cancer): 
Cancer is not uncommon in our pets and we are always keeping an awareness of that as we follow your pet throughout life.  Should a suspicion of cancer arise, our doctors work very closely with you to keep you informed as we gain more information into your pet's condition through diagnostics.   On every cancer case, we consult with Veterinary Cancer Specialists (you may be encouraged to meet with the oncologist advanced treatment). At any given time, we have one or more clients with pets undergoing cancer therapy and supportive treatment.

Permanent identification:
We offer and encourage microchip identification.
    
Pharmacy:  We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets. Compounded medications are available through our Pharmacy Consultants.
   
Individualized Flea Control Programs:  We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.

Dietary Counseling:  We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.

Physical Therapy:  Our doctors frequently refer patients with arthritis and other physically limiting problems to La Paw Spa for therapy with Cindy Horfall.  Please ask one of our doctors or see http://www.lapawspa.com/ for more information.
    
Behavioral Counseling:  We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.  We actively promote the dog training provided at Legacy Canine http://www.legacycanine.com/ and in home training by Sharon Smith.  This clinic promotes non-dominence based training methods.

Boarding:  Currently we do not offer boarding.

Bathing:  We do not offer bathing services.
